Product: 10 Minute Profits
Owner: Tyler Pratt
This is a basic overview of affiliate marketing and email list building. There were some useful concepts covered and you could definitely use a system like this to make a good income. But there's way more time and effort involved in making this work than the sales page lets on.
I've been getting a few emails about this product so I decided to check it out and see what all the fuss was about.
This product was launched by a well known marketer named Tyler Pratt in November of 2016 and he says he is trying to help people break free from failing online and finally make their first ever income.
No doubt this is something many people want, but is it really going to help you? Let's find out...
What Is 10 Minute Profits?
According to the sales page it's a ground breaking system that will allow any newbie to work just 10 minutes per day and bank some extra cash. I didn't think it was too overhyped which is always good.
The product itself is a 32 page PDF on building an email list and sending out affiliate offers to that list which is pretty standard stuff really. The course also contains some PLR content (PDF's he didn't make) which talk about affiliate marketing, sales funnels and traffic strategies. There is some worthwhile information in those but they are really just 'side bonuses' and are quite generic in nature.
How It Works
Here is a nutshell of how this system works:
- Send traffic to a squeeze page (webpage with email optin form) to collect emails
- Squeeze page redirects to a 'thank you' page where you will place affiliate links
- Your autoresponder sends out automatic emails to follow up
In itself, this is the same thing the last 20,000 marketers taught, although there are some differences throughout and some useful tips as I explain below.
Creating Your Squeeze Page
The first thing you'll need to do is create a page to collect people's email addresses. Tyler gives you some basic tips on creating a squeeze page and a template to go off as shown below:
He also recommends a couple of different products to help you create these which do work quite well, although they can be quite expensive if you are on a budget.
He then goes on to explain a free method of getting a page like the above up which is going to be VERY confusing for most newbies in my opinion. It's good he gives you this option but it wasn't very well explained and I think most beginners would be completely lost.
Don't get me wrong, anyone could do this and what you don't know you could learn. But you may want to budget for a product he recommends called ClickFunnels (about $100 per month) if you are using this method exclusively and are not very comfortable with coding. Or be ready to spend some time learning and reading about this to get your first page up.
You will also need to sign up with an email autoresponder like Aweber or Mailchimp to make this system work. These are essential and both good products.
The Thank You Page
This is really the only thing that makes this system a little different. Basically, after the person opts in to your email list they will automatically be sent to your thank you page which is full of affiliate links. They are going to appear as free bonus content but in reality, they are just affiliate links to relevant products.
You are also shown how to use a special link service called ClickMagick which will track and rotate your affiliate links. The rotating system means that when someone clicks on 'Bonus #1' for example, the next person who does the same may or may not be taken to the same offer page. This can be a good way to test out what converts better and track your results.
The problem I have with this is it's a little sneaky in my opinion. Why? Well, the person has just landed on a thank you page that tells them they will be getting free bonuses when in actual fact you are sending them to a sales page for a product you are affiliated with! Is it just me or is this just plain lame?
The Download Page
The very first email you will send out to your list is going to have a link that sends them to the 'download page'. This is where they will be able to download the free gift you promised them in exchange for giving you their email address. BUT... according to Tyler:
Your download page is not really a place for someone to download anything. It’s just another page that you can setup to get your leads clicking.
So, let me get this straight... you have just promised this person a free gift (report or e-book) in return for their email but you don't actually give it to them? According to Tyler, you just put your affiliate link in their as well to sell them more stuff.
I don't know about you, but if I had given someone my email and they did this, I would instantly hit unsubscribe since the person has flat out lied to me about what to expect. This is not a good way to build trust and to build a relationship with your email list.
This is where the real money with this system is made, in the follow up emails. Tyler recommends sending out 2 emails every day to your list and 'telling stories and giving tips' which can work. The thing is, he doesn't explain how the emails should look and how to include your affiliate links in a way to get people clicking. If you are new to email marketing, this is nowhere near enough training.
Learning how to successfully engage your email list is absolutely key to making this work so you will probably want to buy a course on email marketing and/ or do your homework if you want to follow this system. These are good skills to learn anyway so it's a win win.
How Will You Get Traffic?
Getting people (traffic) to your opt-in pages are absolutely essential to making this system work. In fact, it is essential to making any money online. Period. The method you are shown is called solo ads which is basically sending out emails to other marketers' email lists. Tyler shows you what he says is a good source and gives you some tips to get the best bang for your buck.
While this can work, it can get very expensive very quickly and you are encouraged to buy traffic every single day to make this work. This is why testing and tracking and having a good squeeze page is so important and why all of this won't just happen in 10 minutes. It takes time and learning to master these skills and get campaigns profitable. I'm not saying this to put you off, but you should know this.
What I Liked
- Not a huge amount of hype
- Low price
- Some useful points and insights about this style of marketing
- Recommends some useful products to get the job done
What I Didn't Like
- The method of building a free squeeze page wasn't explained very well and will confuse people
- Recommends some clearly unethical marketing tactics (thank you and download pages)
- Not really anything new from many other courses
- It's really only a 'snapshot' of what you need to make money online
It's not a scam, but I found myself wondering why I just paid for basic info I could get for free anywhere.
The concept itself could definitely work and some of the insights Tyler gives are good. For example, he talks about re-investing back into your campaigns and building over time. If you were prepared to learn way beyond this PDF and have the budget for the traffic, you could create an income this way.
However, I wasn't a fan of some of the methods and it was very much just part of what you would need to get yourself into the profit. Many key topics essential to making this work are brushed over which made it more of a 'report' than an actual training product in my opinion.
