Website: Ad 2 Prosper
Owner: Fabrizio Perotti
Cost: $0 - $125 per month
The company claims they offer a legitimate advertising solution and a solid income opportunity to members. I wouldn't be getting too excited about their advertising packages and while you can make money with the referral program, it does have it's drawbacks. I'll show you what I found.
The basic gist of this system is to sign up, perform basic tasks and make commissions on your referrals when they purchase advertising, AKA higher membership levels. They have a unique system that allows you to earn more referrals as you go along. I'll explain this in detail shortly.
How The System Works
The first thing you'll do to get started is sign up for a free account which is pretty quick and easy. I'll run through each membership level now so you know what to expect.
After signing up you'll land in the members area and will be encouraged to fill up your 'prosper bar' which I'll explain in detail shortly. For now, just know that when you log in for the first time you'll need to complete this bar which means viewing 20 ads. This took me about 10 minutes and was super easy.
By filling up this bar you'll get 3 conditional bonuses of:
- $5 advertising credit to use on any offer you want in their ad network
- $5.10 to use to buy new referrals or put towards upgrading your membership
- 1 direct referral sponsored under you who is at the free level like you
The ad credit doesn't buy much and the cheapest option for buying referrals is $15 for 5 so you'll need to chip in more money to get any value from this and there's not much point in doing that until you upgrade.
Because the income potential is very low at the free level and you can only earn bronze upgrade commissions and ad buys at 33% with no downline commissions. Also, if you sign up a person that upgrades to silver or higher, you lose them completely.
Another kicker is that in order to keep the 3 bonuses above you MUST upgrade to a Bronze membership within 48 hours of signing up.
The Bronze Membership- $15 p/m
This membership level gives you 3 referrals for free after you click on so many ads within a set time period, this is in addition to the 1 free direct referral you received IF you joined bronze in your first 48 hours. Take a look at the companies explanation of what you get at this level:
To me this is making things sound a little too easy and clearly contradicts other parts of the compensation plan.
It also contradicts the whole system in place for giving you these referrals called the 'Bar2Prosper' which I will explain shortly.
The point is, you are up to 4 referrals at this point without recruiting any additional people yourself. You have the option to get 5 extra free referrals through the 'Family Bonus' which requires signing up 3 people to bronze on the same day within you first 7 days at bronze.
Almost no one will achieve this within their first 7 days without spending more than they make I can assure you.
So at this point you have:
- 1 referral from the free member bonus- maybe
- 3 referrals from the bronze bonus- after completing certain click tasks
- 5 referrals through the family bonus- highly unlikely
Total Referrals= 4 (achievable) - 9 (best case)
Of course, it is possible to achieve 12 or more referrals in that time but not without a ton of ad spending and a good amount of Internet marketing experience. Finally, this level forward allows you to earn 4 levels deep and only 12 wide in the compensation plan and the percentages stays the same through all membership levels.
Silver- Platinum Membership
Here's the main differences in the membership levels as you get further up the ranks:
- Daily clicks required to earn commissions decreases with each new rank
- Each new rank ensures longer term profitbility since you'll never miss out on any commissions when you sign people up that upgrade past your level
- Number of members you can purchase from the company increases
- Advertising credit bonus increases
- Number of free referrals you get, vacation days and family bonus all increase and I'll explain what these are below
Here's a summary chart taken from the main company website to illustrate:
The 'Bar2Prosper' System Explained
This really underpins the whole process of this business so it's pretty important to understand and in my opinion was not clearly explained by the company until after joining.
What Is it?
This is the system for getting yourself more referrals each month with each particular bar being associated with each particular membership rank, making 4 bars in total. They can only be purchased at Bronze level and upwards at whatever level you are currently at.
They cost between $6-$38 along with a certain amount of time investment in each one to 'fulfil' each one. You can buy as many as you like but they need to be fulfilled in 30 days.
How Does It Work?
These give you a set amount of referrals for a set monetary investment and amount of click tasks within the ad network.
For example, by purchasing a bronze bar you get 1 referral immediately and another 2 referrals once you've gone ahead and 'filled it up' twice. You fill the bar up by simply clicking on ads and viewing videos etc within the ad network as directed.
So in this case it cos $6 and a whole bunch of clicking, all of which must be done within 30 days to get the 3 referrals. That does sound pretty reasonable but it really depends on how much ad viewing you need to do to fill each one up.
You can also only ever buy so many referrals overall according to your rank, whether it's this way or by just buying them outright. As a side note, here's what it costs to buy referrals outright:
As you can see the limit for bronze is 50. Anyway getting back to the bars...
While these bars normally cost a set amount of money ($6-$38) you actually get a free bar each time you upgrade your membership according to your membership level.
So when they are talking about giving you '3 free referrals' at bronze level or '6 free referrals' at silver level and so on, they are referring to this very system. The very first bar you have to fill up is just the 20 clicks I talked about in the free membership.
The Family & Friends Bonus
At each level starting from bronze you are eligible to get free referrals if you achieve a certain objective as follows.
Bronze family bonus: Recruit 3 people in the same day into Bronze level within your first 7 days to get 5 free referrals. This was also what I was talking about towards the beginning of the article.
Silver-Platinum family bonus: Recruit 3 people on the same day at any time into the same membership level as you (silver and above) to get between 10, 20 or 50 new referrals according to rank.
That's pretty much it.
Why don't I think most people will hit the bronze family bonus within 7 days as I said at the outset? Because getting 3 people to all sign up in the same day will require some serious direct contact to coordinate which is highly unlikely, or recruiting tons of people. Only a small percentage go from free-paid in any company so you'll need a lot of referrals if you want 3 bronzes in one day.
The other bonuses are more achievable though since there is no time limit and that's a pretty good number of referrals as a bonus.
This is just buying time away from the daily required clicking quota. You can only buy a set number of days but when you're at Platinum you can buy your way out of having to click to stay active for 30 days.
At that point you're probably making good enough money to be able to pay for it, at least in theory.
Something Else I Found
I found that once I logged into the members area the price for Gold and Platinum was different to what was on the website. It costs much less for those memberships and while that seems nice it's not as cool as you might think.
For example, they give you an estimated earnings of what you can earn once you've got 1884 in your downline based on a $255 monthly membership.
Then in the back office we find the membership is less than half that price... yet they still show the same estimated monthly earnings! The figures are simply not going to be that high with this new price. In fact the numbers are now VASTLY different.
In other words, your income would only be $14,895 per month with 1,884 people in your downline at a $125 membership.
Assuming that this has legitimately changed as they suggest, I think it's a little strange how they'd change it in the back office and not on the main website. The company is therefor flat out lying to people about the income potential and they've also drastically lowered the advertising bonus they give you as well from the front to the back end charts.
Hey, maybe it's just something they've overlooked or there is some kind of explanation for this, it's possible I guess. But if a regular blogger like me can spot this in the space of one review then how could an entire company miss something so fundamental??
The Support Is Weak
The support system they have in place is not something that makes me want to join. You are only allowed 1 question per email and the wait time is 3 business days. Wow... that's a bit lame.
It also seems they've been getting a fair bit of hate:
What I Liked
- I like the low cost to get started and maintain your business
- Back office was fairly well put together
- Getting referrals from the company is easier than in most mlm companies
What I Didn't Like
- Some aspects of the compensation plan were poorly explained
- The income examples are misleading in my opinion and this is not what most will earn
- Information is inconsistent between the back office and front end company website
- There have been some complaints from people stating they upgraded and never got paid or referrals
- Support is below standard which sucks when you are just starting out
- No training on how to get new referrals other than buying them through the system
- You don't earn credits at all for clicking or viewing ads, it's only to stay active and fill prosper bars
- No refund policy
The Bottom Line
After looking into this opportunity in detail it is clear this is all about recruiting. The problem is you are not being trained on how to get the steady flow of referrals needed to make this work. This would really only work for someone with deep advertising pockets and/ or decent Internet marketing experience.
In other words, if you had a good system in place you could practically build this downline yourself and convincing people to upgrade would be easy once you've given them a bunch of referrals.
Unfortunately, the only way you are being 'taught' is to buy referrals through the company which means most people are probably going to end up spending more than they make with this company. They show people the 'earnings proof' but do not show the amount of money theses people have spent to make this money. Buying referrals might be a good extra way to get referrals but on it's own will not likely result in a profitable business. Many referrals will not take action and when they do many of those will drop off once they aren't making enough money. The aim of this game is to recruit tons of people on a regular basis. It really is that simple.
Of course, this is all assuming the company is legit and not just giving people automated referrals. Believe it or not this happens a lot with these kinds of companies. I cannot say for sure either way.
Based on my review I do not recommend this as the best way to build a home business. It might appear cheap or even free but the bottom line is that it will cost a lot of money to build your downline, especially without knowing what you are doing and with such a lack of support and training.
