Product: Dumb Little System (DLS)
Owner: Bryan Winters
Price: $10 - $291
This 'stupid simple autopilot system' is really more like a re-framed recruiting gig, kind of like a unique spin on a multi level marketing system. You can make money with a system like this but there are some things you should know before diving in. I'll show you what I found after buying.
What Is The Dumb Little System?
I couldn't help but look into this system after seeing it was created by Bryan Winters. I've purchased other products he's created in the past and found they usually attract quite a bit of attention.
I was keen to see if he had anything new to offer since the last time I bought one of his products.
In the videos, Bryan refers to himself as a 'genius' for coming up with this system and claims it will "stuff $10 and $90 commissions" into your ClickBank account on autopilot. Bold claims.
I have to say, this is definitely different from the majority of affiliate marketing style products out there, but as always there's more to the story than the sales pitch lets on. The best way to explain this is that it's kind of an "affiliate marketing/ multi level marketing hybrid" business model.
What the? Let me explain...
Your commissions are paid to you via a third party called ClickBank based on third party products. This is just plain old affiliate marketing. However, this is structured like an mlm business model since you get paid to refer people, who refer people and so on. Realistically, the recruiting aspect is the only thing that makes this system different as oppose to standard affiliate marketing.
How The DLS System Works
The products are readily available for purchase anywhere online, but in order to participate in the recruiting aspect, you must buy them through the affiliate links within the DLS system.
Here's how this system operates at a glance:
In a Nutshell
- Sign up for free
- Pay anywhere from $10-$291 to unlock the full potential of your replicated funnel system
- Send out $100's worth of solo ads to recruit people under you who do the same
While it is free to peak inside the system, it is impossible to make money with DLS unless you buy one or more of the products he has laid out within each step. I will go through these steps with you now.
Step #1 Watch The Sales Pitch & Hand Bryan Your Email Address
There's not much more to say about this 'step' since it's really just designed to give you an overview and for Bryan to snag your email address. Cool.
Step #2 Qualify For Direct Commissions
The very first thing you need to do after watching the sales video is purchase any 1 of the 3 products shown below:
Purchasing the lowest cost $10 product will apparently qualify you for commissions on any person you directly bring into this system, no matter which product they buy. It stands to reason that most people are just going to buy the $10 product to qualify, unless they want to lose weight or learn from Tai.
Anyway, after buying one of these products you will qualify to earn commissions on anyone you refer directly. Considering most will go with the $10 option, this means you'll earn a $4.88 commission through ClickBank. I checked this. If this is all you did, you are flat out wasting your time and money since you can promote this product for free directly through ClickBank anytime you like.
You do not need to promote DLS to promote the "25K Firesale" product through ClickBank as a free affiliate. Anyone can become a ClickBank affiliate at any time they want. It's free. And more importantly, you do not need to buy the product to qualify to promote it!
My point being, there must be more to this if it's going to be worth your time right? Yep.
Step #3 Qualify For 'AutoPilot' Commissions
This is where the system starts working differently to standard affiliate marketing.
To qualify to earn commissions on this step, you must purchase a subscription with Cash Blurbs (CB) which is owned by Bryan himself. This costs $27 in your first month and $20 p/m thereafter.
This qualifies you to earn commissions on your referrals, referrals. AKA your level 2 referrals.
This should be considered as part of the cost of joining since earning commissions on level 2 referrals is the only unique thing about this system as oppose to just promoting the products directly as a free ClickBank affiliate outside of this system.
Let me explain...
When someone you directly refer buys something in the previous step (step #2), you get whatever commission it corresponds with. As mentioned, this will most likely be $4.88. Cool. However, if you do not buy the product in step #3 yourself, you do not qualify to earn commissions from it.
Also, in order to earn anything from step #3 your referral must bring someone in under them who then becomes your level 2 referral. So, once qualified, this step is all about earning commissions from your level 2 referrals.
When your level 2 referral purchases a CB membership, you make that commission. I'm not sure what the dollar amount is on that but it's obviously under $20 (product retail). To make this easier to understand, take a look at the example below.
This is technically known as a 'unilevel' downline system, running 2 levels deep.
So, you will forfeit commissions from CB memberships that anyone in your level 1 purchases, but you make commissions on any level 2 referrals who purchase this membership.
In other words, you are relying on people under you to 'might' bring people in who 'might' take action. There is no way to even contact your referrals to help or encourage them to build their team! At this point in the DLS system, there is nothing revolutionary or exciting about this. It's a dice roll.
With traditional mlm, it's all about team building and helping people build their team. This way, you are relying on people who 'might' take action. Remember, the only way to profit from this step, is if your direct (level 1) referrals recruit people themselves.
Step X High Ticket Commissions Qualifier
This is where the real money is going to be made by those who know how to drive tons of traffic. This step is all bout joining 'Directory of Ezines' which costs $197 and gives you access to a directory of online magazines/ newsletter publishers with an active subscriber base.
Basically, you are buying a list of vendors who are willing to sell you advertising space. I haven't purchased this so I can't say how effective or 'exclusive' this list really is but I can say that it's a very expensive way for newbies to get traffic. It might be worth paying for, it might not.
As with all previous steps, in order to qualify to earn the $90 commissions from this step you must buy the $197 product yourself. The key difference with earning on this step is that it pays out on either your level 1 OR level 2 referrals, and it's a high ticket commission.
Example 1: Assuming you purchase a DOE membership yourself, if you refer John (your level 1 referral) and he buys the DOE membership, you make $90. If John then refers Beth and she buys a DOE membership, you'll make nothing since John has already qualified to earn this himself.
Example 2: Assuming you purchase a DOE membership yourself, if you refer John and he does not buy the DOE membership, but he refers Beth who does, you make that $90 commission.
Level 1 Referral
Level 2 Referral
Basically, someone will get that commission once a purchase is made. Using the example above, it's either going to be You or John if Beth makes a purchase.
If neither You nor John have purchased a DOE membership to qualify, and Beth makes a purchase, it's going to be Bryan who scoops up that commission. This is exactly why he stands to gain by being at the top of this system. He collects all the commissions from people who don't pay to qualify for them.
I'm not suggesting Bryan shouldn't make money. Not at all. I'm simply stating the facts here.
Step #4 'Scheduling' Traffic
This step is all about driving traffic to your replicated sales funnel which is absolutely critical to making money. Without traffic, you won't make a single dime.
In order to 'schedule traffic' you are going to be spending $100's to $1000's to start seeing tangible results with the methods he encourages. Namely, solo ads. These are ads you send to another marketers email list for a price.
I've never been a huge fan of solo ads in years past, but they can work if you find the right vendors.
The 'Missing Link' For Newbies
One of the best ways to leverage paid traffic is to collect a persons email before sending them to your affiliate offer. This is because only a very small percentage will convert and take action, that's just how things work in the online business world.
This system offers no training or help to accomplish this all important goal which means the majority of beginners are going to be spending tons of money on traffic and seeing average results at best. Also, whenever one of your referrals join this 'free' system, they give their email to Bryan which means you are effectively handing your email leads to him on a silver platter.
Be smart guys, collect the email leads yourself. This is what you need to be doing, not just sending people to a sales page.
That doesn't mean Bryan is doing anything wrong though, he is just 'leaving out' a critical aspect of getting the most out of your paid traffic. And to be fair, he is going to be emailing the folks who didn't take action on the day to join under you which is cool.
The point being you are still building his asset instead of your's which I definitely don't recommend doing. If you join this, it's worth learning all about email marketing and getting yourself a capture page.
What I Liked
- Possibility of making both direct and passive commissions
- Has tiered products ('free' / $10 / $20 recurring / $197)
What I Didn't Like
- While technically a 'free system' you must pay to play with this and this is not explained upfront
- Products clearly exist to faciliate the recruiting aspect and could be swapped out for anything
- The email swipes he gives you are pretty spammy in my opinion
- Relying on your referrals to bring in referrals is a gamble when you can't even contact them
I've gotta hand it to Bryan, this is kind of a 'genius' system in one sense.
He has effectively set up a full blown chain recruiting system in a way that allows him to fly right under the radar. Lol. When you strip DLS back to it's core it really is "stupid simple"... purchase irrelevant products to qualify for recruitment commissions and get other to do the same thing, who get others to do the same, and so on.
However, it's the way he has set this up that is different and 'genius'...
Here are the 2 main reasons it's a unique setup:
- He's not actually selling you anything, he is simply choosing who's affiliate link goes where
- He is not paying you any commissions directly, ClickBank is paying you
So, the real question you are probably wondering- can you make money doing this?
Yes. You absolutely can make money with something like this.
However, to make anywhere near the kind of income Bryan talks about will require driving tons of targeted traffic. Relying on paid advertising to get traffic (especially without using your own capture page) is not the best approach for newbies and will probably cost you way more than you make.
You are also relying on other people to get referrals in order to make the real commissions this system was built for. Failing that you'll be hoping level 1 referrals buy the $197 product which is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Most won't.
For the most part, unless you are making commissions from your level 2 affiliates in either step 3 or step X you might as well just promote these products directly for free through ClickBank. I won't call DLS a scam but I don't recommend it as the best option for building an online business either. Unless you go all in with this and have a good budget for traffic, you probably won't get much out of it.
That's my take anyway. Whatever you decide, I hope this review has been helpful! Cheers
