Product: Evergreen Income Machines
Owner: Andy Brocklehurst
Price: $25.95 - $37
Basically, this is affiliate marketing with a capture page and an email follow up series. While this is a good business model and a legit product for the price, there were some things I wasn't too keen on either. I'll show you what I found so you know what to expect if you decide to buy.
I recently received an email about some "evergreen way for newbies to make $10k per month" from a bunch of marketers, so I decided to see what all the fuss was about.
Turns out this is a product from a guy named 'Simple Spencer' who I've purchased a couple of decent products from now. The actual product creator himself is a guy named Andy Brocklehurst.
Anyways, this product launched on the 22nd of November 2016 and I decided it was worth buying. I'll show you exactly what I found inside the members area so you know what to expect!
What Is Evergreen Income Machines?
According to the sales page, this product shows beginners a proven path to making $10k per month as an Internet marketer. All you need to do is set up these simple little "income machines" that generate $300-$500 per month, then rinse and repeat. Sounds good. But is it real and how does it work?
This is a real training and a legitimate business model as advertised, and it is proven to work. That said, the concept itself is nothing new... affiliate marketing with a capture page and an email follow up series.
The reason this product is unique is some of the automation tools included in your purchase and the training is coming from someone who isn't feeding you bullshit. He's a pretty straight up guy from what I can see and provides some worthwhile insights. It does have it's drawbacks though as I explain.
There were 2 low priced upsells and 1 downsell after buying which is not over the top in comparison to many other sales funnels. Here's what they are:
- Lazy Man’s System: Some resources to automate your business for $37
- The EIM DFY Shortcut: Some kind of system to make everything quicker and easier for $67
- EIM Traffic Secrets: Traffic tips for $17
I rarely ever buy upsells for these reviews because I like to see how well the system works on it's own without needing to splash out on these.
Inside The Members Area
There are 8 core training videos, a range of tools you can use and some bonus content within the members area dashboard.
Video #1 (Introduction)
In the welcome video, Andy provides a tour of the dashboard so you know what to expect moving forward. He introduces the system and provides some very worthwhile insights into his journey online which I think is very worthwhile.
He also pointed out a section called "newbie videos" which is for beginners who may not be familiar with some of the basic concepts like 'squeeze pages' and 'autoresponders' etc. Well, that was the impression I got anyway. Turns out it was 4 very short videos about FIleZilla, Aweber and GetResponse. While I do think it's useful to have these, these are available from Youtube itself and they are very basic.
The main thing I liked about this video is how he explains to people the ACTUAL reason why so many people struggle to make money online. He emphasises the concept of breaking the mould and building a solid foundation for yourself instead of chasing every new 'shiny object' the gurus are pushing out. Not only is this awesome advice, but it sets the tone for the remaining training and helps you to get into the right mindset for success which is key to achieving your goals online.
The rest of this video walks you through the key elements of the system and how it was developed.
Video #2 (Overview Of The Tools)
This is a quick video running you through the tools offered within the members area. You can use your own tools (ie landing page builder) but there is a super simple page builder included for those on a budget. You do need to get a domain and upload the file to your web hosting account in order to use this, but the 'newbie videos' shed some light on this.
- Basic landing page builder
- PDF report generator
- Dropbox direct
- Download page builder
- Headline writer
- Follow up email generator
The 'upgrade only' tools may not be necessary to buy from Andy, but they are critical elements of the sales funnel to get right. Without a download page, follow up series or knowing how to write decent headlines, you are going to have no idea what to do to make this work.
Video #3 (The Strategy)
This is where the system itself is explained and where you get a 'birds eye view' of the process involved in turning a profit. The video runs you through each of the steps to your right so you have a basic understanding of how the whole thing works.
Andy talks about going after a large 'evergreen' niche such as health and wellness, make money online or self development etc. The idea is to start off with a small slice of a large pie rather than trying to find some 'untapped' niche.
I do agree with this concept when it comes to using paid traffic, but not so much when you are leveraging free traffic with a website.
The website building approach to making money online allows you to make money within very small niches with very low competition. Some of the most ridiculous niches I've come across have some of the most insane potential with tons of people searching for solutions to their problems, and willing to pay to solve them. However, when it comes to the paid traffic approach, I get why Andy says this.
As in, the level of competition doesn't affect how long it will take to get traffic and how difficult it will be like it does with a website/ organic ranking approach. Not to say you shouldn't tackle high competition niches with a website though, not at all. But the 2 approaches are different in this regard.
Anyways, the first step is sending people to your capture page where you offer a freebie in return for their email address. After subscribing, they are sent to the download page you create (if you upgrade) which has affiliate offers in place. If you don't use the download page approach, you will simply send the download link for the product in the first email follow up.
Either way, the real money with this system is made with the follow up emails you send out over the coming days, weeks and months.
Video #4 (Creating The 'Gift')
This is the first task in actually putting this system together. In order to grab the visitors email address, you need to offer them something in return which is where the free gift comes into play.
To do this you'll use the "give away report maker" and put together a free PDF report. Andy emphasises that very few people even read this report so it's not worth spending any length of time on. It's a matter of finding 3 relevant articles 'somewhere' and pasting them into the tool as it prompts along with affiliate/ website links. You also put in the source links for the article you copied for copyright reasons.
The whole process only takes a few minutes and the end result is a basic PDF report with some generic info made to look super epic on your capture page. That's the idea.
While I do get Andy's point about not spending too much time on a free report that no one reads, I don't recommend giving your subscribers junk content either. Not the best way to build relationships.
Video #5 (DropBox Direct Linker)
This is a tool you are provided with to help you manage the downloading of the free report you are giving away to folks who have opted into your email list. If you are using DropBox, you can upload the PDF into your DB account or simply put it into a synced folder on your computer. The cool thing about this tool is it creates a direct URL for people to click on that triggers the file download and it creates a 'Bit.ly' link which allows you to track the number of people who have downloaded the report.
In other words, it's a tool that makes delivering your free gift simple, easy and adds tracking.
Video #6 (Capture Page)
This is a short video showing you how to use the landing page builder to punch out a basic capture page. Once you follow the prompts you can very easily create a landing page and there are guidelines on the text to place in the headline.
The next step is to create the actual opt-in form itself within your autoresponder and paste the code into your new capture page. Pretty simple but if you haven't stepped foot inside an autoresponder dashboard, you may want to check out the 'newbie video' section and do take some time to learn this.
Then, you need to upload the webpage file into your hosting account via FTP... not hard when you know how but I am guessing that sounds a little scary to some and understandably so.
While it is easy and it's cool that you even get tools to begin with, this is really only a jump start and not a long-term solution in my opinion. There's also very little training on the key elements that make these pages convert such as headlines, styling, sales copy or how to set up tracking to measure your results.
Video #7 (Upsell Tools Overview)
At this point you have the report to give away, a very basic landing page and a basic overview of how it all fits together... but there's some key ingredients missing unless you upgrade.
As mentioned earlier, you must upgrade to get the following tools and/ or training:
- The 'monetised download page' builder
- Follow up email generator
- Training on getting traffic
You don't need the above 2 tools I've listed (or even any of the tools Andy provides for that matter) because you can simply buy alternative products elsewhere. I'd personally do this anyway.
But here's the thing...
- Without a monetised download page this system will not be working at full capacity
- Without a follow up email series there's little point in doing email marketing
- Without learning how to get traffic, this entire system is 100% useless
If this is an 'income machine' then it's a machine with missing parts. Yes, you can get those parts from anywhere, but there should at least be some basic instructions for doing so. As it stands, it is very difficult for beginners to proceed without upgrading or getting addittional training elsewhere.
It's totally fine that these tools are optional extras and I am NOT suggesting they should be included for the base price. Not at all. I am simply saying there should be some training on these elements in order to make the system work without people having to upgrade or go elsewhere.
Video #8 (Another Video On Tool Upsells)
Andy talks about the importance of creating good email sequences which underscores the point I just made. He says this tool is the answer to crafting follow up emails and from what I could see, it makes light work of creating a follow up series and promoting affiliate products within those emails. This is probably a good start for beginners IF the content is legible and provides a good framework, but I would personally rather create my own follow up emails from scratch. It's a skill worth learning.
What I Liked
- Not a lot of hype in the sales material or product itself
- Good foundational principals given in first couple of videos
- Time tested model that can definitely make you a solid income
- There are both tools and training included with your purchase
- Tons of bonus content including some traffic training
What I Didn't Like
- Key elements left out unless you upgrade such as download page, traffic training & email follow ups
- Emphasis on 'automated tools' rather than fundamental training and marketing insights
Legit system and good product overall, but missing stuff that should be include for the base price IMO.
I started out really loving this product to be honest, and it is good, but towards the end I wasn't keen on some aspects. Instead of delving into the kind of training that would help you build a solid foundation for your online business, you get brief videos on using 'auto tools' that I personally wouldn't even use.
I can see the value in those tools for beginners for sure and I do think it's awesome they are even included. But I do think the actual training could've been more complete and insightful. No doubt Andy has a wealth of knowledge to share with folks so getting more of his insight would've been nice.
My biggest complaint is how the base training pretty much stops right at a critical point in making this actually work. The download page, email follow ups and traffic training are not just little things. They are absolutely key to making this work. There was some downloadable content on traffic but it was just PLR content and was mainly about free traffic methods which is not what the system is about.
Overall, Andy's Evergreen Profit Machines IS legit and does offer genuine value for the price you pay, but I personally would've liked a more complete and in depth training without having to upgrade.
