Most articles I come across discuss making money with Amazon in general, I decided to mix it up a bit.
In this article, I'm going to show you how to make money blogging about Amazon.
Maybe you love the platform and want to share your passion, or maybe you've made money as an affiliate or vendor? Either way, you can blog about this and make money in the process.
That said, whether you want to blog about cats, golfing or your passion for music, you can make money with Amazon. I'll show you what I mean over the next few minutes and how to get started...
Is This a Good Way to Make Money Online?
I'm not some millionaire Amazon guru, but I do make money on the Internet with several niche blogs, which is why I can safely say that yes, blogging is an awesome way to make money online.
No matter what your blog is about, if people are searching for content you are publishing, you can and will make money by following a proven process. The same process I am going to explain here.
While setting up a blog does take work, and it does take time to build your organic traffic, there are some distinct advantages with this model. For example, one small niche website or even one blog post for that matter, can net you a passive income for years based on one single effort.
The reason being, once you get content ranking in Google, and people are reading, engaging and sharing your content, it's a fair guess it stay on page 1 of the search results.
Take one of my blog posts about link posting for example, it is still ranking almost a year on and brings in quite a bit of traffic based on just ONE single effort:
My point being, getting content ranked like this means evergreen traffic and ultimately, evergreen sales.
There are well over 3 billion people online searching for answers to questions and looking for ways to solve their problems. If you can get useful and relevant content in front of the right audience, you can absolutely create a reliable income for yourself.
Getting Started- From Blogging to Profits
The basic concept of making money with an Amazon blog can be broken down into 4 main steps and I'm going to show you can example of how this works below.
#1 Choose a Niche
Since this article is on blogging about Amazon, I figured a good niche example would be "Making Money With Amazon Associates For Beginners".
Imagine you are a successful Amazon affiliate yourself, and have lots of cool insights to share with people on how you made tons of money. People are going to be coming to your blog to learn from you.
Believe it or not, you could make a full time income with this one blog alone.
But again, your niche could be about anything. For example, you could create a blog about "Custom Candle Holders" and promote Amazon candle holders. The possibilities are practically endless.
#2 Build a WordPress Blog
There are many ways in which you could go about building a blog. I recommend a platform I use called SiteRubix because it makes the entire process of building a WordPress blog dead simple. I'm not a fan of technical hurdles... this platform makes your job simple, effective and affordable.
If you use SiteRubix, you'll get 2 free websites (with a domain name and hosting included) to get you started which is great value.
When it comes to choosing domain name I personally go for something that is both relevant and unique. Whatever you decide, don't get caught up on this, just choose something and get going.
#3 Create Useful and Relevant Content
In my opinion, this is the single most important part of all, and I tend to repeat myself when I talk about this for that very reason.
The reason you want to publish quality content on your blog is to get rankings in Google, Yahoo and Bing. Once you get rankings in the search engines, people visit your website and it doesn't cost you a single cent. It's also very high quality traffic when you do things correctly.
When people visit your blog/ website you have a chance to help them with your content, build trust and recommend useful products that will help them. This process works, and it works well.
For example, you could write useful articles that teach people about getting started with Amazon as a newbie and many other topics related to this topic. You could write articles about selling your own products on the Amazon marketplace, how to promote other people's products as an affiliate or how to make money with Amazon Handmade. You could even review digital information products relating to this niche and compare the best ones. There really are endless topics to write about.
Whatever you write about within the theme of your blog, the main point is to help people instead of trying to sell them stuff.
The best approach is to offer genuinely useful and relevant content.
If you focus on selling instead of helping, people are not going to spend much time reading, engaging, clicking through or sharing your content. This will lead to poor rankings and ultimately, poor sales.
The absolute best way to get content ranked and make money is to actually help people solve their actual problems. Crazy right!?
#4 The Money Making Aspect
Once you have the foundation of a blog and useful content that is ranking in Google, it's time to make money from all of this.
There are many ways you can make money from a blog...
For example, you could create your own digital product or ebook sharing your insights into making money with Amazon, or you could promote digital products that other people have created as an affiliate. It is best to try and narrow down whatever you are going to promote into a few high quality products though, look for the most relevant and useful products within your niche and do the math on how many you need to sell to make the kind of cash you want.
Anyway, once people land on a piece of content through Google or social media or some other medium, that article has 2 primary goals:
- To build trust and credibility with your audience (this is done by being useful and relevant)
- To lead those visitors towards a useful product you are promoting
One way you can do this is with a dedicated review page for a product you are promoting as an affiliate, or a sales page for your own product. You would link people towards those "money pages" from your content. The following visual description shows you what I mean:
Google Search ==> Useful Articles On Your Blog ==> Money Page ==> Profits
On your money page, your goal is to get people to buy your product or click through to the vendors sales page if you are an affiliate. As an affiliate, you will earn a commission if someone buys a product you are promoting through your unique affiliate link.
Some of these concepts may be foreign to you, but don't stress, none of this is difficult once you learn the ropes. It's just a matter of learning and getting started. To help you get your head around this stuff, I created a beginner course which goes into much more detail. You can access the course for free here.
Choosing The Right Keywords
I've discussed the importance of useful content, but understanding how keywords work is an equally important factor in making money with blogging. Why? You could write the best article in the world, but if no one reads it, it's about as useless as tits on a bull.
So, what is a keyword and why do they matter?
These are just phrases people punch into search engines like Google when they are searching for something. That's it. The idea is to craft your blog posts around ONE main keyword.
When you become good at keyword research, you are going to be able to come up with countless ideas to publish content around, and easily get ranked. Personally, I am a fan of the "low hanging fruit" method which is basically targeting low competition keywords for your blog posts.
These are essentially the "crumbs" the big guys aren't chasing. Don't be turned off by the low search numbers though, it all adds up! It's better to rank for 100 articles bringing in 5 visitors per day, than rank somewhere on page 5 for a bunch of high competition keywords.
I've used this exact method to grow my traffic, so it absolutely works and is perfect for new blogs.
Setting Yourself Up For Success
It may not be the quickest or easiest way to make money online, but for someone who is passionate about blogging and wants to share their knowledge of Amazon, this can be a great way to go.
And as I was saying earlier, the same principals apply regardless of the niche you choose to target.
You could quite literally create a blog about "cat training" or "Marijuana Paraphernalia" and recommend related products as an Amazon affiliate. The process is the same across most niches. I've personally helped quite a number of people get started online and it never ceases to amaze me just how massive the potential is within some of the most obscure niches. You don't have to find something "untouched" to succeed either, it's just a matter of starting with an idea, and drilling down to find the opportunity!
