Chances are you’ve been approached by someone you know or have met about the Trevo business opportunity and want to know how it stacks up. In this article I’ll share my thoughts on the company, the costs and the potential for new reps entering into this business.
The company was founded in 2010 by Mark and Holli Stevens as a multi level marketing company specialising in health and wellness. According to the company website their core values revolve around health, family and financial prosperity and they believe strongly in empowering others to achieve their personal greatness.
There is one main product that is designed to promote optimal health and nutrition in 3 main stages- restore, renew and revive. It consists of 174 different nutraceutical ingredients that are all 100% vegetarian, some of which are even certified organic. This ‘super juice’ is apparently great for everyone from 2 years onwards and is designed to help people achieve optimal health.
Admittedly, I am a little skeptical because there are a lot of mlm companies claiming they have the key to optimal health and wellness… I mean a LOT. The good thing about this company is they provide a huge amount of information about the products, their certifications and what it all means.
It’s also worth noting that the health claims have not been evaluated by the FDA which the company clearly displays on it’s website.
The opportunity is marketed as a way for people to gain financial freedom and become their best both financially and personally. The idea is to sign up and after seeing great results from the product, share this with others and recruit them into your downline.
The more people you recruit and customers you get, the more money you will make. There is a lot of information on their website about the opportunity and what is involved which is something I liked personally.
The Compensation Plan
In this section I will get into the nuts and bolts of how you earn and the costs involved in getting started. One good sign about this company is that they provided a direct link to the compensation plan on their website and really walk people through the costs and what everything is about, this is not usually the case with most mlm companies.
They do give a pretty ridiculous earnings example though, which in my opinion is very misleading. The company itself only has a global revenue of about $1 million per year so this example is so far off base it’s actually kind of funny.
How You Can Earn
There’s 8 different ways you can earn with this company but for the purpose of keeping things simple and not writing a novel, I’ll just focus on the main important ways.
Retail Commissions: When people buy products from you at retail through your replicated website they become either your ‘elite customer’ or your ‘elite subscription customer’. The subscription customers can get the product at the same price as a distributor as long as they sign up for a monthly auto-ship. For example 1 retail customer buying 1 bottle of Trevo would fetch you $4, but a subscription customer would get you $3.50
PowerStart Commissions & Matching Bonus: You can earn a set commission on someone you sign depending on the level you signed up into. For example if you sign up for the ‘Director Pack’ for $300 then you’d be eligible to earn the maximum commissions on people that sign up for that pack, but if they sign up to a more expensive pack your commissions will be capped at the ‘Director Pack’ level.
In other words, the more expensive pack you buy when you sign up the more commissions you will unlock.
The matching bonus is basically you earning a commission on your referrals referral to the tune of 20%. This is also capped at whatever your initial level is that you signed up for.
Downline Commissions: This is the bread and butter of your earnings potential and where the passive income comes in to play. Basically, the more you order personally on auto-ship the deeper the levels of downline earnings you can receive. So to be able to earn 8 levels deep you’ll need to be buying $105 worth of product each month (1 case).
You will only earn these commissions from people that have placed an auto-shipping arrangement with the company. The chart below outlines the commissions you’ll earn on your downlines auto-ship purchasing.
Bonuses: There’s also various bonuses in place like a monthly group bonus pool, rank advancement bonuses and the luxury car bonus. Sometimes these bonuses sound better than they really are and only a select few ever achieve these, so I wouldn’t count on these but rather see them as ‘bonuses’ you will achieve further down the road if you stick at it and achieve success.
Like I was explaining above, the pack you choose to enrol with will determine your earnings potential moving forward. The packs range from $50-$1200.
Remaining An ‘Active’ Rep
Like most mlm companies, you’ll need to be purchasing product each month in order to remain an active rep and earn any commissions. With Trevo this is achieved through a monthly auto-ship arrangement that will cost you anywhere from $39-$105 to earn on all 8 levels.
My First Year Cost Estimate
This is an estimate of what I think it would cost me as a newbie joining this company and trying to build a full time income. It is based on my own research and opinion and I recommend you do your own research before making any decisions.
Joining Fee= $300
Staying Active= $1260
90 Small Sample Bottles= $234
Other= Includes seminars, conventions (and associated travel/ accommodation), marketing and other associated costs
Total= $1794 +
This is what I believe is realistic for me. I would want to be earning on all 5-8 levels so staying active would cost me $105 per month. I’d also want to enrol at a level that ‘unlocked’ a reasonable amount of commission potential so I chose the $300 starter pack.
The ‘other’ part could easily blow way out though because they give you a website that might be ok for recruiting and selling product, but it will never rank in Google which means you’ll be paying for every visitor you get. Most people would refer people they meet on social media or offline to their website and in that case it wouldn’t cost you anything, but you are seriously limiting your customer and lead base this way.
Only unique websites rank in the search engines for free, not duplicate websites like the one you are getting with Trevo. It is worthwhile to have for your business, but it is limited in driving leads into your business.
What I Liked
- Good rating with the BBB and zero complaints
- A lot of information on their website about the products and opportunity
- The earnings potential seems pretty reasonable
What I Didn’t Like
- The cost of getting your business off the ground in the first year is pretty high in comparison to other mlm companies
- I am a little skeptical on just how great the product really is
- They give people an earnings example that is completely ridiculous
- They have a very low global revenue of about $1 million or less per year
- They require a monthly auto-ship to take full advantage of the compensation plan
- They do not display the average earnings of their distributors
- They encourage the warm market approach to build your business- AKA hustle your friends and family to make money
To me the company is pretty similar to a lot of other health and wellness mlm companies. They claim to have the ‘secret sauce’ to our optimal health and talk about the opportunity being one that ‘frees’ people.
While some may genuinely achieve this kind of financial freedom, they are by far the minority. Unfortunately, the costs of staying active and the warm market approach make this a less than desirable opportunity and it’s not something I personally recommend as the best option.
I spent years listening to 'gurus' which left me broke, frustrated and totally lost. There's only ONE program that helped me create a real income online, here's how it helped me succeed...
